DoveLewis gets zero stars for not being honest and straight forward. I would discourage anyone from taking their best friend or pets here. My son took his 12 and 1/2 year old dog there knowing he had congestive heart failure (CHF). The dog jumped into his truck and walked into DoveLewis that morning. The staff said they would keep him over night and drain off the extra fluid the dog was carrying and would put him on medication to help manage his CHF. My son got a text message the next day saying that they needed to keep him... read more

We took our dog in after she collapsed on July 4th. After a lot of back and forth, progress and regression, the dr. Told us late that night that it was looking very grim. She stated that the $4000 deposit we paid would be used up by morning and that we could make the call to continue care or opt for euthanasia first thing in the morning. After calling multiple times starting at 7:00 AM and leaving multiple messages, they finally got back to us several hours later. We had to stop care but in the several hours in between they ... read more

Took my 9 year old corn snake in for emergency care because she was bleeding from her vent. The techs took her back, and I was told her condition wasn't serious enough to be seen right away. After waiting over 2 hours, they finally offered me a drop-off appointment, but required me to authorize $300-500 in charges without notice if they decide it's necessary. I took my snake and left to see a different vet the next day. She died the next day from blood loss. DoveLewis cares more about your money than your pet, and they do no... read more

It is very rare that I ever right a review. This past experience at dovelewis animal hospital was the worst experience I have EVER had in my life. Instead go to cascade veterinary referral hospital. I had to take my dog last night because she recently ate raisins, and we were afraid of the toxicity poisoning that may occur. When we first took our dog in there was no mention of how long the waiting time would be. We have visited different ERs in the past so it is understandable that it takes a few hours. Long story short, ... read more

Dove Lewis is the only 24/7 vet in Portland, and because of the large vet shortage they are overrun with patients. Because they are constantly dealing with emergency and always doing triage, they sadly aren’t able to truly help most animals that aren’t dying but that do need a vet right away. For me, it was not a great experience and I won’t be going back. Friday night and all the sudden our cat Freya couldn’t walk so I rushed her to Dove Lewis. I was hysterical and couldn’t stop crying, the staff were clinical with me w... read more

It was horrible. Me and my dad left our cat there for fifteen hours, and they didn’t even look at him. He had a fever and hadn’t drank water for 48 hours when we brought him in. Fifteen hours later we decided to get him and take him someplace else. We almost slept in the car at dove Lewis. It sucked!

You better be able to pay or they will send your dying pet home. Money clearly is more important than your pet’s health or your feelings and concern. I spent 6 hours in their parking lot while they gouged me for $800 in tests and was told if I couldn’t pay a $3000 “deposit” for ICU admission for my dog, he would have to die at home. Don’t. Go. Here.

It was an incredibly frustrating experience in which doctor Gorman told me my dog had a cancerous tumor and was dying... only to learn hours later that she had bladder stones and ended up passing them on her own. It was eight and a half hours waiting in the parking lot thinking my dog was dying and being charged over $2,400 for a bladder infection! I am not the type of person to leave reviews but this was so bad I felt I wanted to warn others.
