As someone who’s been a renter for almost 15 years, at many different residential properties, I’ve never had an experience like I did with Douglas Residential. Rent here if you’d like to be unexpectedly charged ($1000+) for maintenance that is at the obligation of property management. Long story short, Home Depot caused a slow leak when removing the dishwasher(the day the lease began) and we were charged for the cleanup. Cathy Douglas has been the most unprofessional and disappointing property manager I’ve dealt with. Despite the claims made on their website, there was a complete lack of communication and customer service. Emails went unanswered for weeks, and unexplained charges were added with no prior notice. Basic responsibilities were consistently neglected, and there was no effort to resolve issues in a timely or respectful manner. Above and beyond. Peace of mind. These are the best ways to describe our experience with Douglas residential and that is exactly what you want in a property management company! We highly recommend them. They helped us manage our home in round rock. Wow we have been living in New York City. They were such a game changer and us being able to rent our home and eventually sell it!
Douglas Residential was generally responsive and professional during my lease, but the move-out process exposed a breakdown in communication and accountability that shouldn’t be overlooked. They deducted $160 from my deposit for third-party trash removal, despite the fact that I had a City of Austin bulk pickup scheduled and confirmed.
