This is an older hotel. I have stayed there many times over the last 15+ years when I travel to Austin for meetings. However, it had been a few years since I stayed here and the area has really become run down to the point that I did not feel safe in the parking garage. It is very dark with low ceilings. No real security obvious to prevent people who don't belong from walking onto the garage. Once I got in the hotel itself, I felt safe and more at ease. I'm disappointed by my recent expierence. I had a faulty lock on my balcony door resulting in me being locked outside for an hour and needing assistance from the local fire department. I understand mistakes happen and teams can be short staffed. My issue lies with the fact I called the hotel 3 times prior to calling the fire department, once the fire department let me inside I never received a call from the guy at the front desk, I went downstairs to speak to him (45 minutes after being let in) and he was unaware of my room ... read more
