Double Horn was a town in central Texas that was formed in 1855. The town was founded at the headspring of Double Horn Creek and grew to a population of around 50 in 1884, complete with a school, churches, and a post office. Around 1900 the population began to decline until nearly all traces of the community were gone in the mid-1900's. So how did the town get the name of Double Horn? I know this is crazy to say about a brewery, but the food was delicious. The beer was good, the food was better. Had the buffalo chicken sandwich with mac and cheese and it was amazing. Started with an appetizer of fried avocado with crab meat. Paired nicely with the blonde beer.
Problem with service - Young blind girl was supposed to be our waitress but dumped us another waiter. I guess she did not want to take care of a old couple. In fact she wasn't waiting on hardly any tables. The young man who was "stuck" with us was nice but had most of the tables to take care of. It is a place that brews its own beer but no one wanted to go over the options with us. It seemed like we were a bother for asking about them. Food was ok. The first time was awesome ...This time not so much. Chicken fried steak was a real disappointment.all gristle and breading. Basically inedible.
Great food and a cool atmosphere. My wife asked for something that wasn't really on the menu they gladly made it for her. We will be back!
My first time there and really enjoyed it. We were with a big MINI car club group and y'all handled our group with greatness. Good food, good service & good beer 🍻. We'll be back. One thing would have been even better is if y'all had a gluten free menu for my husband. Even if it were a small one.
I had one of the best burgers of my life and I've been eating burgers for 50 years.
Best goddam burger in this town. And super-friendly staff.
The burgers were good but they were out of two of the six beers on the menu. If they are a brewery, been in stock with their own beer is important. Not up to the standards set by Middleton's out of San Marcos.
