Variety of Services Studio 1 offers a variety of services ranging from tanning, spray on tan, nail, spa, waxing, and hair. They often run specials on all their services. Great place to get your hair cut! My sister, daughter, and I just visited Studio 1 at their convenient location on 60th St. just north off the new South Beltline. The stylists were all young and trendy and had great ideas on what to do with our hair. They also described, in significant detail, how to achieve the style they gave us at home. The price is very fair also at under $30 a cut. They also have a wide variety of spa services available. We will definitely be going back for another girls day out.
These people are crooks !!! I went to this salon in 2003. And paid cash for tanning services. I just am finding out that I have a collection bill for over $250.00 to these people. How do i get a bill for tanning services I already paid for? I just don't get it. How is that possible? And why is the phone number disconnected? dont get what you pay for Atmosphere is relaxing and beverages are offered. The nail technician was friendly but pushed what her idea of attractive was and left me feeling insulted when I only wanted something simple and practical for my life. The hair cut that I requested was VERY simple, straight cut with face framing bangs...the following day a coworker noticed the cut but then mentioned that "I had missed a few pieces" The salon offered me 50% off a return visit but that would include another trip there and another $70 c... read more
Clean Facility vs Snobby Works Take your pick of what's more important: Clean facility vs friendly staff. For the past 4 years, I've chosen the clean facility. I've gone for primarily only tanning. The employees are all younger trendy girls who tend to be friendly to fellow trendy younger girls or good looking men. If you happen to not fall into one of those catagories, you get second rate service. However, they do feature great clean tanning beds. Okay, but not my first choice I haven't been able to find a good hair salon since moving to Grand Rapids. I tried out Studio 1 because they gave me a coupon, so that was nice. It was a nice place, good atmosphere and very clean, but the girls at the front desk weren't incredibly friendly. They welcomed me, but it was not a genuine welcome. I love them I got a free certificate by one of my friends to go there and I loved it, I haven't been anywhere else since then and I refuse to go anywhere else. I see Angie Dykgraaf. YUCK!! Being a long time ex-employee of Studio 1, they are horrible to work for. Their only upside is they have good colorist. The owner is a known man to take his employees to court. He took his own sister-in-law to court after she worked with him and he was mad she quit. They have horrible work atmospheres and do not meet with child labor laws.
