Be careful! Although Doggie Kamp in McKinney is the ideal atmosphere for your canine in theory, you should know that when we visited, we soon discovered that 20-30 of the approximately 50 dogs were rescues. Although it's great the owner will take care of any dog, the behaviors of some of these dogs can be aggressive. On the Sunday open house visit on 10/14/07, our 70 pound passive dog was bit (two puncture wounds) within 20 minutes by an overly aggressive German Shepard with one ear (a rescue). An apology from the owner with... read more
Jan and Doggie Kamp the best there is! Jan Rosen is one of the most caring people I know and spends every minute of her time and every $$$ has to to save the lives of those in need.. surrendered by their owners, abandoned on the side of the road and set to be euthinized at the shelters. I have transported a number of these dogs for her to DKRR and in each and EVERY case they have been completely vetted, spay/neuter and ALL shots. I have never seen dog poop in the yard nor have I seen bowls strewn across the yard in the many ... read more
Best around The owners are some of the most knowledgable poeple around when it comes to animals. They are flexible and kind, patient and trustworthy. The dogs always look so happy there!!
Stay away!!! I would never take my dogs there again. Just pulling up to the place I had a bad feeling. The coniditions are poor at best. I had waited to the last minute to board, so we had no choice. The place was over crowded with dogs. Old food bowls and nasty water dishes were scattered throughout. It was obvious that dog poo wasn't being picked up daily. Both of my dogs came back covered with Ticks. I took both to the vet costing me $330. The one had a wound on her stomach. The other had a red eye with puss coming out of... read more
Doggie Kamp is great! Doggie Kamp is a great place to have your dogs! Jan is a nery nice and hard working person. For those who said its dirty and the dogs are agressive: Jan lives alone with all these dogs that she believes don't deserve to be put in kennels except for when they eat. She has to clean the yard every day, feed all the dogs every day, do adoptions with these dogs, and other house hold things or dog things. And she does this practically by herself. I have three dogs at home and i think its tough to take care of... read more
Happy d I am a frequent customer at Doggie Kamp and have ALWAYS found it clean and well-managed. The water bowls and pools are full of sparking water, in fact. Yes, there are a lot of dogs but they generally get along really well, and they get enough exercise that they don't seem to act up like penned dogs do when they are released. I have boarded there for years and I have even adopted from DKRR twice--the best dog rescue group I know of, and I have worked with several.
Doggie Kamp Inc is NOT SAFE ANYMORE! I am a heart broken pet owner who has lost two of my babies to neglect at Doggie Kamp. This is not a safe place anymore. I'll never go back! BEWARE!!!
we and dogs love jan<3 this doggie kamp the best i have ever seen i volunter here often and the dogs are happy the ppl that work with the dogs are the nicest ppl and i love coming out here and spending my time just to play with the dogs. if your gonna say this place is bad for dogs and dont bring them here then your dogs are missing out on the funest time they may ever have.
BEWARE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE. We boarded our two labs here over July 4th, 2011. There were over 30 dogs at the facility, with one care giver Jan Rosen. One lab came back with a large open wound in her stomach. Jan didn't even know she'd been injured! The vet told us the wound had been there for over 48 hours and was massively infected. Our lab had to have surgery to insert a drain to allow the infection to drain out and, of course, stitched up. My other lab came back INFESTED with ticks. Both dogs are treated for fleas/... read more
