We took a side trip here while visiting South Dakota—Devils Tower did not disappoint! It is magnificent.
The Hiking Trail would be a good exercise and the scenery is promising to be good and you probably can encounter some animals or observe them from a distance. We didn't take the pass up to the tower because we didn't have much time, but were more than satisfied with the view just outside the parking area. There are some nice walking trails just make sure you bring drinking water with you (the gift store don't have any drinks). It is near Mt.
