Extremely compassionate, very focused on the patient's experience whether he is treating a minor or an adult. He wants to know the patient's symptoms and experiences on and off medication, and allows the patient to have a say in how they would like to be treated, what medications they would like to consider, and how best to help them enjoy their own mind, body, talents, and abilities again. More than two years into working with him, he has always been punctual, ready to help if urgent issues came up.
My daughter used to be his patient, when she was barely 17years old and after she told him her bad experience with the anti depressant that he prescribed to her he just told her and asked her which other antidepressants she would want to take .He just gave her a run down of antidepressant medication names … instead of carefully telling us the name and how it would be different from the previous one she was taking… He is the most irresponsible, pretends to care but doesn’t care about people’s mental health and life at all. Dr. Kaplan spent several hours with me thoroughly reviewing my symptoms and concerns. Very understanding, professional, and comprehensive psychiatrist. Very unprofessional. His diagnostic test included printing a few pages from a printer with low ink I could barely read the words. After seeing I checked off some boxes he said I was depressed and sent me on my way with some Wellbutrin. My next appointment I was knocking on the door outside for 20 min after the apt started before he let me in and pointed to the couch where I waited for another 10 minutes while he finished his zoom call.
