I’ve been working with Julie and the Design Matters team for about a year on my remodeling project. While they clearly have talent, the process was slower and more stressful than I expected. Some of the design choices didn’t fully match my vision, and communication could have been better. The work eventually got done, but I wouldn’t say the experience was seamless. Overall, not terrible, but I can’t wholeheartedly recommend them.
We had an incredible experience working with Julie Cavanaugh and Design Matters on our kitchen renovation. From the very beginning, Julie took the time to truly listen to our needs and vision. I have worked with Julie and her staff at Design Matters for 9 years. Julie designed my first home remodel in 2016. We completely re-did three bathrooms and the entire kitchen from top to bottom and it was a great experience. Julie knows my style and works within what I like. We hired Julie to design two bathrooms for us. We had such a mixed experience, with some aspects of her service deserving 5 stars and other aspects deserving 1 star, that it is difficult to pick a single rating for her. Our main takeaway is if you want to hire Julie, you can end up with a beautiful final product, but you will have to manage the execution yourself and fill in many gaps, and you will pay a premium price.
