New menu creative, but long wait for food. It took us 2 hours to get an app and dinner.
Had a fantastic dinner at Derby last night! After the new change of ownership and the menu overhaul, I will definitely be returning regularly. The menu is a very new and interesting concept, with many unique options. I had the risotto which was delicious, and well balanced. Derby's been ruined, Im ok with change, but if you're going to change an already spectacular menu, the replacement better be a superb one , unfortunately and very sad to say! It was not, By starters the Bar had Very weak cocktails and made cheaply! Old fashions requires a black cherry, no exceptions! Rating is based on past Derby ownership and menu not current owners. New owners lost what made Derby they place to go. New Ala carte small dishes that come with very little forcingyou to purchase an extra side dish to make a meal. Dish come out separately leaving those a same table to wait for their meal to arrive.
RecommendedThe new menu is INCREDIBLE!! Owners of Bread and Board (also incredible!) do not disappoint here either!! Has the king pao chicken, stuffed peppers and pork chop. All amazing. Cannot wait to go back and try everything.
Derby USED TO BE my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville. Last visit was a month or so ago after new management took over. Its lost almost all of its charm and ambiance. The menu was in transition and offered deli meat stacks. Really??? Derby used to have a cool vibe and feeling that is hard to describe. But it felt great. I only hope it reverts back to how it was.
Been in recently and the cocktails and food are amazing. Looking forward to many more dinners at the Derby.
Derby is such a great spot! The atmosphere is fantastic, food it always great. Plus, now that it's in the hands of Dwayne ( of Bread & Board) it's going to get better and better!
This restaurant has always been such an iconic landmark in the historical five points area in Jacksonville. Unfortunately due to the recent sale and new ownership this has all changed. I've lived in the area for over 10 years and I am extremely disappointed with the lack of service, being ignored even when the restaurant is not even busy.
