Beware Yellow Jackets -- Watch out for the hidden fees. A "Free Eye Exam" and "Covered by Insurance" may end up costing you $250 out of pocket just for a simple exam.
This is a typical insurance fraud facility. They will take your money for the exam and then will never order your lenses. 3 months of calls with “we will have to call you back” and never would. Doctor E apparently is useless because no one would let me discuss my problems with him. The staff are obviously lazy and can’t handle basic organization and office work. In my 35 years of going to an eye Doctor I have never saw such incompetence and just flat out laziness.
I’ve been going to DePoe for a while now and was pretty satisfied with their service up until they made it a ‘requirement’ to charge customers an extra $39 for retinal imaging which is NOT covered by your insurance company. Before it was optional....not sure why its suddenly mandatory. I was not aware of this change and found out about it upon arrival for my appointment. I ended up cancelling my appointment...will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. We already pay alot for insurance coverage, I certainly did not see ... read more
It was very disappointing to learn that all eye exams now require retinal imaging. This procedure was optional in the past and now has been labeled as a requirement for an exam! Beware! Vision plans cover a retinal dilated eye exams but most will not cover any cost towards retinal imaging! These people will tell you that insurance covers some but not all! Check your plans before you go! We’ve decided after over 20 years with Dr. E to go elsewhere!
I woke yesterday with very blurred vision in my left eye. I called several eye doctors in my area. Depoe Eye was the only office that directly answered my call. The office staff did not have a doctor at their office, but took my symptoms and number, told me they would relay my problem to the on call doctor, and they would call me back. A short time later, the Office (Stephanie in Griffin) called me back and told me that Dr. Depoe would see me right away in his Stockbridge office. I arrived and the office staff came to my car... read more
I went in today to pick out my glass at the DePoe Eye Center in McDonough. I want to give a shout out to Josie and Jamie. These two ladies are awesome!!!!!! They were very helpful and both have great customer service. Please go see these ladies!!!!!
I have used DePoe center for many years. Love the energy of Dr Laura and staff. However, last week I found f the office to be so dirty. Their was dirty Kleenex on the table in waiting room along with candy paper and used bandaids on the floor. Along with trash on the floor in every room. Also dead leaves from poinsettias. I mentioned how dirty the floor was and was told they only have to vacuum once and week and the carpet is so old so it will not pick up the trash . Hope they are able to get this corrected.
The website says they are family oriented, children of all ages are welcome, and that they cater examinations to individual age levels. It’s a parent’s dream. Then when I called, I was immediately informed that they don’t see children under 5 and attempted to refer me to a pediatric ophthalmologist.
