About this business

In 1827, at the beginning of New York City's evolution as the financial center of the world, the genesis of what would become a world-renowned culinary institution, Delmonico's Restaurant, was set. A small shop selling classically prepared pastries, fine coffee and chocolate, bonbons, wines and liquors was operated by the Delmonico brothers. Its success led them to purchase a triangular plot of land at the intersection of Beaver, William and South William Streets where, in 1837, they opened the first fine dining restaurant i... read more

Besides the fun experience of dining in a historical site, Delmonico's had excellent steaks (the tomahawk is a new favorite) and the Seafood Chateau was unforgettable. The service was excellent, from booking (hi Sade) to the waitstaff (hi Philip). We went for a special family occasion and the bus boy assigned to our room made sure, when we asked him to take our photo, that we came away with an excellent memento.

The meal I had at Delmonicos is the best that I have had in my 64 years on this planet. The Delmonicos Steak was perfect, and the salads and side orders were absolutely delicious. I have eaten in many upscale establishments in the US and Canada and in the Caribbean over the years, but none compares to Delmonicos. The food, the professional staff and the ambiance are beyond compare. If there is one place that everyone should eat at at least once in their lifetime, it's Delmonicos.

We went for Lunch. My friend ordered off the regular menu and I had the Restaueant Week Menu. Everything was fabulous from the time I walked in the door. The ambiance, food and service was superb. We can't wait to go back again. We already planned our order.

I am a private chef and extremely picky about food. It was wonderful food and the service was fantastic! Knew it was restaurant week but it was my birthday so ordered off the regular menu and it was so good. Staff was delightful.

Historically oldest restaurant in NY & first restaurant to allow women to have lunch. Amazing food & service.
