Stoll is a genius! – I've eaten at Delfina about 15-20 times, and all but one experience were heavenly. The gnocchi is sublime, and I'm amazed at the consistency of the regular offerings (such as the calamari salad) for being absolutely sublime. Creativity and simplicity merge for offering the best in fresh, local California foods in a Northern Italian trattoria-style package. Definest – Delfina is a cozy, warm, friendly place. The food is delicious. It is difficult to get reservations at times and parking is not good. They have a great selection of Italian wines. It can get a bit noisy at peak times. Dining at the bar is suggested if no tables available.
Great Farotto, Spotty Service, NO BAR – The food was good, especially the farotto that came with the roasted pork shoulder. They do not have a real bar, just beer and wine. At least the wine we ordered was very good (Felline something-Puglia). The table wasn't ready when we got there (9:30pm reservation). And I still can't believe they don't bring ketchup and mustard with a side order of fries. We had to ask for everything twice, more bread, ketchup and fries, hot water. Perfectly San Francisco – Whenever someone comes to visit, i send them to Delfina. You can't go wrong. This is the purest Cali-Italian fusion around. Flavors are crisp and pure. Craig has pioneered a new era of Bay Area cusine at affordable prices. This is the type of place you can eat every night or do on special occasions. incredibly good unpretentious italian--too many people know about it but that hasnt made the food any worse or the attitude any greater--just made it imopossible to get a table the day you have a craving to eat there!
A Unique and Wonderful Dining Experience – You can always tell how good a restaurant is by how often you dine there, and this is the place I frequent when I feel like a special meal. Delfina is a consistently high quality dining experience: everything from the innovative, fresh food to the gracious and extremely competent service. The menu is determined daily and you will leave the restaurant extremely content, well-fed, and chances are whatever you do after Delfina that evening will be anti-climatic.
