My wife set up an appointment and was told the visit was pre---authorized and would cost around $80 out of pocket. Well, after the visit she was told the insurance company DIDN'T cover it! The bill was around $1000! Wow! Big difference! The office was less than sympathetic, and although they did allow us to make payments, they offered little if any assistance with the insurance company and most certainly weren't warm and fuzzy when it came to our protests over the bill. I have had 3 spinal surgeries and anyone who has them knows there is a lot of work before you get them, tests that require injections of different kinds targeting different areas, ablations etc to rule out all other possibilities before surgery. I ONLY go here, I know I have had at least 5 procedures and honestly think its been more. His staff has stayed the same and are so incredibly kind and caring yet efficient, and Dr Chang is amazing. I've had several spinal injections from different doctors since my first diagnosis in 1989. The first was very painful, (not Dr. Chang). For my first from Dr Chang, I took as much medication as I was permitted, in anticipation. It was unnecessary and the relief effect of his injection lasted longer than my previous one On the second from Dr Chang, I took no medication, and other than a tiny sting at the start, I felt no pain, only slight pressure from the injection. When I made or try to make an appointment for a steroid injection I was told that I had to come in for a consultation and only after the consultation could I make an appointment for the injection. I was also told that time that the appointments were required by law. I found out that there is no such law that requires that. Some insurance companies require an approval after a consultation but my insurance company does not require that.
