The dark wooden walls and dim lights give this place the look and feel of an old traveler's stopover, but the mood is lively and fun. Have a drink at the full island bar inside the front door or settle in the back to feast on anything from nachos to steaks. Better yet, take your party outside. The porch seating climbs up three floors and offers great nighttime views of the skyline. The basement houses a separate, much rowdier bar with live, local bands nightly.

Out of Control Waitress – This bar employs rude waitresses who bump in to patrons, yell at them to watch out, and then have their bouncers kick them out. My good friend (a girl) was a victim of this out of control waitress. My friend was not intoxicated. This happened purely because the waitress was having a bad night. We will never return to this crowded, smokey, rude bar.
Nothing but trouble – This place is fun, but if I have ever gotten into trouble, or trouble found me, I was usually here at this place. Prepare to get wasted. You have not choice.
Cookie cutter bar – It looks just like every other bar. If you enjoy being packed in like a sardine and ordering drinks that have to be handed to you over people sitting around a bar that don't seem to leave EVER, maybe you'll like Dark Horse. It's just a crowded stupid bar with nothing noteworthy. No dancefloor, no place to sit....I'm not sure what you're supposed to do there. Stand around? The only girls I met there were the type who thought they were too good for Buckhead, but were ironically exactly the type that gave Bu... read more
Highlands Meat Market – Since this is a Highlands bar, I go here. Other than that, it's nothing special. Cool tile floor, friendly bartenders (if you can get to them), and the jukebox is fun (lots of variety). If you get here late enough though, be prepared to wait forever in the entry line, and be prepared to constantly squeeze through the crowd on the inside.
OVERRATED! – This place is dark and loud and not very fun at all. The drinks are way overpriced and if your looking for fun in the Highlands, you might as well go to Hand-In-Hand or Neighbors (right next to each other). There are just so many other bars with a better atmosphere than Dark Horse, including Atkins Park or Limerick Junction (a quaint little irish bar).
Falls short of potential – If you're into kackis and polo shirts this is your place. The clientele here is definately yuppie and the bar is by far the most annoying bar EVER to try and order from. The music is WAY too loud for any bar style and the drinks are expensive. The only redeemable qualities of this bar is the motive, the fact that 10 High is downstairs, and the it has a Ms. Pac Man/Galaga combo machine.
Hilarious! – It is hilarious that anybody would think the Dark Horse is a place to see and be seen. My friends and I call it the "Dork House" because of the crowd. This is certainly not a place i would consider a "beautiful people" hangout, though it is a relaxed comfortable place to just hang. You'd be far more likely to find a Georgia Tech engineering student in here than a local celebrity. For a beter crowd in the Higlands, try Fontaines, Highland Tap (late) or Gecko.
Terrible service, rude employees – Go to the Dark Horse Tavern if you want to have a lousy time. Service is poor, employees are rude, and there are always too many people. So not worth waiting in line...
dark gem in the Highlands – I have yet to leave this pub without having a great converstaion with a fine lady:-)
