In the middle of the corona outbreak, I had to move to a new apartment right across the street in the same complex. I was at my old apartment 6 months and got a cat 3 months in and paid a hefty pet fee of $300. I asked if it could get transferred to the new apartment since it was such a short time and he hadn’t ruined anything, plus work is tight due to the viral killer pandemic going on. It has been such a pleasure to work for Darby Development for the last 3 years! Now we have been nominated by Charleston City Paper for the best Property Management Company and I know why!!

Tried to make me pay for new carpet to apartment before my lease was up, which was not on the lease I signed with the original property management company. I had to break my lease because i don't have an extra 849.00 in my bank account. Now there are only four of eight apartments rented in the one building. Don't know how this company keeps harassing tenants and getting away with it. I had black mold from a water leak in the bathroom and a broken front door you could see into that was never repaired.

I am questioning "The Darby Difference". I have lived in my apartment going on 3 years, and have had my rent go up each time signing a new lease. (understandable) However, I recieved word that my rent will be going up $90.00 a month. The cost of living doesn't even go up by that amount and pay raises, surely don't. I thought I had found a "Home" when I relocated to Charleston and picked Northbluff as my residence. I have always liked it there, until I got word about such an huge increase in rent.
