My truck began spewing transmission fluid when I backed into the space for my 5th wheeler. I called around and spoke with a few folks at the RV park my wife and I were in, Dana's was the name most mentioned, so I called and talked to Tom. His knowledge of transmissions was amazing, his bedside manor (We were a little upset by the problem), was comforting, and his shop was spotless! I created avoid.danas.transmission@gmail<dot>com. What a disaster. I can only be happy that I went to Dana's for a relatively small job. I stopped by and talked to them before scheduling the car to be worked on. The mechanics in the back are pretty knowledgeable. The owner and receptionist are a disaster. I had my classic car that I built when I was 14 in their shop for drive line work. I finally called after a week and asked if they'd looked at it. Honest and friendly – My first experience with Dana's came when I purchased a car for my wife at a local used car lot. The car needed a timing belt installed and the VW dealer suggested that we install a water pump too at the same time since they seem to go out fairly regularly. After getting a price from the VW dealer, we decided to call the car lot where we bought the car. They suggested we take it to Dana's. BAD customer service and Money hungry!!! – I called on a qoute for service and they gave me a great price and even said they would tow in my car at no cost to see if it needed anything else. I asked if I would have to pay the tow bill if they ended up finding something else wrong that cost more than I could afford at this time and they said they would NOT charge me for it. Wonderful Experience – I had my van worked on at Dana's Transmission. My wife and I were impressed with the whole company from the guys out in the shop all the way to the office. We told Tom what the van was doing & not doing. Tom explained what he thought the problem was and the cost. We needed a part that wasn't in his bid. Tom called to let my wife and I know the cost. Not Happy – My transmission went out in my truck and I asked my freinds where to take my truck, Dana's was one of the two shops recommened. I had it the towed up to the shop, I told them that I don't like vehicle problems at all and I wanted the trany built strong and I paid extra to have this done. I had the truck back one month and the transmission went out on HWY 2 Memorial day night, after five hours and two tow trucks to get my truck and trailer off the HWY and a $1450.00 tow bill. In defense of Dana's – I am a long time customer of Dana's, been coming in since the early 80's. I was in the shop the day the izzardking was there to pick up his truck. What I saw was a kid with a mouth on him, a mother with an attitude (I would have been embarassed to have my mom defending me at his age), and a shop owner who made the choice not to work on a vehicle. Not cheapest but would you skimp on your bypass surgery? Happy customer! – Well, I was just looking for the phone number because I'm calling to get their recommendation on a friend's vehicle and I noticed they got blasted by somebody who wasn't happy.
