This place is actually very good! – We recently found CL and love the Masala and Garlic Nan. Great food, large portions and actually very good prices.
ONE OF THE WORST INDAIN RESTAURANT – I just wanted to say that it is not at all worth it.the charges are too high. the service is bad and the owner is too cunning.they just increase the charges every month.thats i personally recommend not not go there and waste your money.
AVOID AVOID AVOID – I've eaten at Curry Leaf since it opened in the Bethany shopping area sometime around 2002 time frame, before they expanded the area where they serve buffet. I stopped eating in long ago, primarily due to extermely slow and poor service. However, since I liked the quality of their food, I continued to order take-out. I now reside in Seattle, but visit family in Portland often. I had to provide this background to illustrate that I am trying to be as objective as possible in writing this review. Crappy food.. – I am Indian and have lived in different parts of India. I have savored food in various Indian restaurants in Portland to state that this place has the worst food I have had here. The food is stale and is very bad. We ordered vegetable biryani and the vegetables were uncooked. Keep off this place if you care for yourself and your health!
Worst Indian Food ever tried anywhere – People have high expectation on this restaurant mainly because it is in a neighborhood of many Asians. It is obvious to think that the restaurant may have a lot to offer. But people find it the opposite. Food is horrible. Main dishes are very generic. Lots of stale items. One items is not different than the next. Flour, potatos and chana in 100% of main dishes. Dessert is horribly mediocre. I never found the people working in the restaurant friendly. Prices are same as you would find i... read more
Best Indian Food in Portland. Period! – I travel to India on a regular basis for business. I typically eat in 5 star hotels and other rather upscale restaurants and have come to love the food. There's a saying that goes something like "... the closer you are to India, the better the food..." So imagine my utter and complete surprise!! when my wife and I recently found Curry Leaf. The first day we ate there they were serving an all-vegetarian south Indian buffet lunch (every other Sunday). It was phenomenal!!! Indian food in ... read more
Not worth it – I moved from the east coast last year and decided to try some Indian food and one of my friends had been a student at PSU and had recommended this place. I tried the veggie lunch buffet and was very disappointed. At more than 12$ its definetly not worthe the price. I have never gone back there again. Chennai Masala on stucki avenue is a far far better choice.
BEST Indian Food in Portland – If you are into South Indian food, this is the place to go. Fresh and consistently excellent. Recently staff has been an issue, American servers have been employed and they are clue-less (bad service). Bring back the Indian servers- and pay them their tips! (pay cash for tips as servers don't get them in Indian restaurants in the USA, usually)
Wonderful authentic food... – Awesome authentic south indian food. yummm.... Very nice north indian, including Tandoori Chicken. Indian chinese is pretty good but not as good as chinese back in india. The service is missing though; less waiters means less service. Ambience is alright, especially in the back where there fumes do not come.
