I have been a patient of Crossings since it opened. Always have liked my dentist and dental hygienist Diane. But yesterday evening I had a 6 pm appointment for a cleaning with a new hygienist and a dentist that wanted to leave early. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. Heather the new hygienist was annoyed that I had requested topical numbing gel to be applied to my gums just like all the previous visits I had . She said she never looks beyond the previous note, so therefore she just grabbed a random tube out of the cabinet. The dentist was in a hurry to leave, so he insisted on examining me first before the cleaning. Heather wanted to get the topical on before the dentist did his exam, so she put this random gel on without rinsing my mouth after the application. My lips, the back of my throat all became numb. Leading to me having difficulties swallowing and coughing.Heather asked me if I was allergic to the topical. At the time I couldn’t speak so well, but if I could redo, I would have told her, “ If the correct topical was used and applied correctly and not left in my throat for a prolong time before a rinse! I wouldn’t have had any unpleasant symptoms! After the cleaning, Heather tells me she is “a very straightforward type hygienist and thinks going forward I should see another hygienist!”Well Heather, I have been in the industry of caring for patients for 39 years and how I was treated by you was very poor! In a business where you care for people and they pay you for the service , you better learn some interpersonal skills and how to be polite! I can be Straightforward too and you and your all too busy dentist just failed your profession to get high marks of praise!
