Crogan's Bar and Grill This place does not have good food. I haven't been to the sportsbar part, as it is not really my thing, but the restaurant is supposed to be nice and all, but it has really sub par food. sorry to say it, but hopefully this will encourage them to change their cooking/menu.
I don't get it... The food here is consistently uninspired, not horrible to the point that you have to send it back - but most nights I feel like even tired I could have done a better job at home. The bar has lousy service and the whole thing is generally a bummer. The only upside is that it's convenient if you live near highway 13.
Reasonably good food Recently I went to Crogan's for a late lunch/early dinner. Parking was very difficult in Montclair; I had to park a block away and across a busy street, and pay a meter. Once inside, the staff seated me quickly and brought my beverage right away, and some delicious fresh baked bread. We ordered potato skins as an appetizer. They were pretty good. So So The last time I was there I had pasta for lunch. It was so plain that I would compare it to cooking boxed pasta at home and pouring on some Prego sauce. I was disappointed especially because it wasn't cheap. I would only go back because it is a decent place to meet up with friends.
Crogan's Montclair Restaurant I have been eating at Crogan's for many years and have never had a bad meal. We have taken many friends and family for special meals and have always been pleased. They have daily specials and regular items on the menu. Staff has always been efficient and courteous. I would recommend making a reservation as it is a very popular restaurant, especially after local football games. Parking can be a problem but there is a parking lot nearby.
We had a great time. I ate dinner here last Friday, and I have to say I'm fairly impressed. When we were seated the hostess told us they had just rolled out with a new menu. Our waitress recommended the mustard-tarragon salmon, so I tired that. It was fantastic. Good recommendation. She really made our night... she was funny, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. We had a great time.
