I was looking for eye dr for my husband and myself. I Googled 10 top cataract surgeons in Tampa and Dr Berger's name was on top of the list. I called for appointment, was surprised to get appointment in few days. Dr Berger is very knowledeable,caring and professional, his staff is excellent. He spent a lot of time during my first visit to check thoroughly condition of the eyes. I was very impressed! I need a cataract surgery and feel very comfortable to let Dr.Berger do this surgery.
Dr Berger is one 0f a handful of Opthamologists in FL performing Corneal Cross Linking for Keratoconus. His out of pocket charge is comparatively more reasonable. Under his care, my eye is progressing positively within 6 mos. My other eye will undergo the same procedure. During my first appointment, Dr. Berger answered my numerous questions but his personality was flat,distant w/minimal patient interactivity. Within 6mos his personality is less stiff and interacts more easily. Fabulous staff!!

At first, Dr Berger is rather quiet and I wasn’t impressed with his bedside manner at first. However, after a few appointments... he opened up some and was friendlier. You have to take the first step with him. But, his work is excellent. He checked and double checked to make sure things were going right. I had a cataract removed, then had to have a cornea transplant and I can say that it was worth it. His staff is also to be commended, as they helped me in many ways from questions to meds.
Due to a sudden emergency I emailed the office on a Sunday requesting a new patient appointment. I received a response the same day from Dr. Berger himself asking for us to come in first thing Monday morning. Dr. Berger and his staff were so accomodating, friendly and he was very knowledgeable. We had a great experience and can't thank him enough!
I have been a patient of Dr. Berger for over a decade and he treats my chronic dry eye from GVHD. He also preformed Cataract surgery on both of my eyes to great success. I highly recommend him. He is an expert in the field. His staff is friendly and he takes most insurance . Great bedside manner.

I have been so confident of Dr. Berger's professional depth of experience through several appointments for two separate ophthalmology needs. In June, Dr. Berger did a cataract procedure on my right eye with amazing and immediate results. Everything was thoroughly investigated and procedural needs explained. Surgery reflected professionalism on all levels. Follow-up thorough. We both even remarked at the 1-day visit..."It's as though I didn't have surgery.. perfect results."
I am very thankful for finding Dr. Berger and his willingness to go forward with this challenging triple procedure considering the condition of my left eye. I am pleased with the results and appreciate his patience and, importantly, his skill with this difficult procedure. I also appreciate Lisa Oliveri for her patience fitting me with a scleral contact lens. The office receptionist/appointment coordinator, Giovanni, is always friendly, courteous and willing to help.
