Did not have a good experience with this hotel. It isn’t the cleanest, with a musty smell in the rooms. The beds don’t have headboards which is odd. We found a spider in our room as well. The location isn’t great, not walkable to anything. The deadbolt on our door was broken, as well as the window bar on our first floor window, so major safety concerns. Upon alerting staff, we were able to switch rooms so we were at least grateful for that, but definitely would not recommend this Marriott.
The African american lady that answered the phone is VERY rude!! I asked if there are any rooms with balconies available if i book a reservation and instantly she accused me of going to smoke in there!! And it wont be allowed and j was like no i don't smoke ma'am, i was explaining that i have a condition and i need a balcony or a window and she cuts me off "sir sir sir" if you need a room book it online and just hung up! First, DeSHAWN at the front desk is a treasure. She made us feel very welcome. It sort of went down from there. Stained blanket, dirty bathroom walls but the thing that really stood out was when we went downstairs to eat before our concert. The Bistro was supposed to open at 5. The woman was a half hour late, so we could not eat. When we returned from the concert we were hungry and the bistro was open, but the woman running it was chatting up a man and ignored us. I recently attended the Driven event with the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce at the Courtyard Marriott Detroit Pontiac/Auburn Hills, and I was absolutely blown away. The event spaces were beautiful, spacious, and perfectly set up for networking and presentations. Everything about the Marriott’s presentation was top-notch.
