A discovery made in 1952 by two college lads, has turned into Rapids City's popular attraction, Cosmos Mystery Area. As the signboard at the entrance aptly reads 'laws of nature seem to have gone completely berserk', nothing in this attraction can be perceived as normal. Buy tickets in advance. It was a perfect family fun visit. Be prepared to laugh

No masks being worn by staff or required to enter. We drove all the way out there after the women on the phone said it was very slow and safe. We ended up getting a refund because we did not want to risk it.

A fun trip to break up the day and a great way for kids to burn off energy as you try to move your way through the mystery shack. It was a workout even for the most fit adults! If you are traveling with kids of any age make sure to do the geode dig and breaking. My son is 16 and had a blast trying to find just the perfect one. PRO TIP: MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE! So much fun! A one of a kind experience and right on the way to Mt. Rushmore. If you are visiting Rushmore, definitely worth a stop at Cosmos. Taylor was a great guide!
