Dr. Colen's interpersonal skills do not seem a good fit for a doctor in the field of psychology.
This guy is a Garbage! Went to 3 appointments and he was terrible. Now a year and a half later they call me and said I missed an appointment and owe that piece $250. What a joke!
I've always been very hesitant with psychiatrists, because I believe they just push pills (I hate big pharma but I suppose that is their job). Dr Colen listened to how I felt and was very careful not to over diagnose and have me on more than I should be on. I like that he works to be a therapist as well as a psychiatrist, so it's a little more than just changing my medication. And after being charged a hefty deductible, they said they'd work it so I don't pay much each time.
Save your money and time and just talk to your pastor or a close friend. It was a waste of time, this doctor is not passionate at all. Not sure why he is still a doctor other than for the money. Didn't make eye contact with me, then at the end of our very short conversation that he rushed me through, he said, "well what do you want me to do about it????"
The man was unconcerned, and bored, when he found out my suicidal tendencies were under control by the time I was able to see him(three weeks later). If he wasn't going to hospitalize me, then I was wasting his time. I thought he was rude along with the staff. I need help, but not his kind of help. No Empathy.
Horrible experience. He doesn't talk, just hands out pills, but he writes my prescriptions to end weeks before my next appointment and won't permit refills. If you're just a pill pusher, at least give people their pills!
He tracks the medication he prescribes, so no abuse. I like that. Otherwise he is OK. Listens and diagnoses fine. Very strict about rescheduling, even with over 24 hrs of notice his office always threaten he might charge as no show. Office staff are bit rude and hardly ease. Seems like they are always stressed. kind a ironic. I think he does the billing himself, he always know how much i owe.
Dr. Colen is not a doctor who I would ever refer. First, he has a lot of hidden charges that will hit your pocket book due to those charges not being part of the refer or services. Watch out HMO customers. Secondly, he will pugnaciously resent himself as being BOTH the PCP and Psychiatrist. What this results in is Dr. Colen making duplicate, multiple charges per visit, changing medications as he sees suite, and removing the holistic approach. Out of the 8 - 30 minute appointments, it was 15min
