I dont normally make a negative comment because I understand we all have a job to do; however, your agency should understand we have obligations also. A nurse manager leaving a message on my private number and my work number yesterday and me calling back in less than 24 hours does not constitue an issue or lack of care for my mom. I use to work with the VNA which changed it's name to VNS about 20 some years ago. The individuals that come to your home can have schedules that vary: (In other words-One day come at 2 PM, then come at 9 AM. And it does not matter way the service is). I am strongly thinking about changing companies because of this, unless they can guarantee a set schedule. Take it from someone who has knowledge of being caregiver to one that needs help!

Cleveland Clinic VNS was terrible, and after less than three weeks, I transferred my loved one's care to another service. Basic instructions were not followed and phone calls were not placed to update me as to the service provided, requiring me to spend my time and effort tracking down the staff. In addition, and most importantly, my loved one certainly did not receive "comfort care". I am not sure what a good hospice care program is but this one is basically you are on your own 24 hrs a day to do everything a facility would do with no instructions or tips and they come to your house for a few minutes a week to take their blood pressure and oxygen level. They mail you your meds but most likely you already have them anyway. They say they are there for support but really it is just a phone "feel good" phone call with a "aww, I see - We'll check back next week" feedback. You may as well just use youtube vide... read more
