No one should have to wait for an actual room, after being "admitted" by in the er for 2 days with a broken hip! As well as beg for meds repeatedly then again wait hours, get forgotten at shift change, dismissed, and treated with no compassion. Er "trauma" staff are NOT equipped to see patients with Alzheimers, nor geriatrics frankly. When you advocate for said patient, my 80 year old grandmother to her nurse, you are met with the same "care" they provide. I would like to give a huge shout out to the nurses and staff on 4200 this weekend. They did an amazing job at getting me back to health. They treated me with the an amazing amount of respect and care. All though I was in there 5 days I would do it again if it meant I had that staff.
I’m currently in the ER waiting room and will address only this part of my experience, I used to be the manager of a Cleveland Clinic ER so my review should hopefully be looked upon seriously. My 92year old mother came in by squad for chest pain, shortness of breath and bradycardia. I followed in my car. She has mild dementia which worsens with anxiety. My husband was sent from the Cuyahoga Falls out patient location to Akron Main campus. We were there for 6 hours. We saw many angry people and at no point did security come into the lobby to monitor and ask people to settle down. Several went up to the window and cussed out the two women behind the glass. After all the waiting no one ever came out to go over the ultra-sound. We asked if it was read 3 times. The two woman at the font desk they said no three times.
