After a broken hip due to a bicycle fall (the ball was broken completely off the top of the femur and had to be replaced) I was transferred from Methodist/St. John to Kindred; which I chose solely on the location which was nearest to my house. It turned out to be a good decision as the facilities, equipment, and staff are first rate. The food was quite good, however the injury trashed my appetite so I didn't enjoy it as I could have otherwise. Highly recommended.
This was my first time in a facility like this. I was very impressed with the whole staff, from doctors, nursing staff, PT and OT. They really cared and made my stay as comfortable as possible. A nurse sang happy birthday to me. One day I even had breakfast with the CEO Dale. Thanks you all
This facility is in very bad need of repair. The room my husband was in had damage under the AC unit and the floor was a mess. It is necessary for family members to be very present and involved to monitor the care. There were a few wonderful RN at the facility though like Norma and Amy Jun. They have few comforts for family but do not prohibit family from being an active part of treatment. Kindred Clear Lake is like a second home to me. I have been through several surgeries of my back and total knees replacement and I always choose Kindred Clear Lake for my physical therapy rehab. The staff is so friendly, helpful, patient and caring. The facilities are clean and it is a welcoming environment for friends and family who want to visit, but the facility also allows for privacy and quiet for the times we just need to rest as part of our recovery. I was taken to Kindred the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was the worst experience I have had in health care. I would NOT take a loved one, friend or anyone else there EVER. My "TECH" refused to make my bed because she had brought a new mattress in and made it, then an air mattress came and she wouldn't make it. It was left unmade from 4pm until after 10am the next day.
