I used to go to a different ophthalmologist. Dr Ferriera was working in that practice and I happened to get assigned to him for follow-up to an issue I was experiencing and was immediately impressed. My daughter scratched her eye on vacation and went in for an exam. She paid $89 and they prescribed some eye drops. Then 6 months later we unexpectly got a bill for another $215. I tried calling the office to discuss, and even though I called probably 15 times, no on answered the phone. So I mailed a partial payment along with a letter with questions about the bill. Pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. Saw me right away in an emergency (lost vision in one eye while walking down street). He performed surgery and I have eyesight in that eye still.
Took care of (R) retinal detachment with no prior notice, on the spot. Later removed bothersome floaters in each eye (months apart).
Have been a detached retina patient for 2 plus years. Have had 4 operations to correct. Started process in March of 2020. Had two regular surgeries (face down) to repair. Neither worked. In June 2020 had the third surgery Scalateral buckle (with silicone oil added.) Middle of March 2022 finally had 4th surgery to remove silicone oil. April 1 appointment follow up. Now cornea endema. Dear Dave, I did not resign my position, I dedicated 13 years of my career to Eye Centers of Florida. Dr Brown sold the practice to an investing corporation. I did not fit in their lucrative philosophy with patients I will announce my new location soon, and will continue to take care of you. I was able to get your retina reattached. When a Doctors staff has to apologize for the way this man treated a new patient it says a lot about the rudeness, demeaning arrogant nature he exhibited. He actually accused me of causing my retina tear because I didn’t see him soon enough—I saw another Dr in his practice weeks before!! He then would not release my records to me so I could see another doctor— which I did the same day!! But of course I got a bill which I will not be paying as the new dr had to repeat the exam! He is the greatest. Personable good looking, knowledgeable and treats his patients and staff with care. Also makes going for eye injections most tolerable. Thank you for taking great care of my eyes.
Dr. Ferreira was ok. Only saw him briefly. He had a hushed conversation with an aid and prescribed a medication with out discussion or explanation. Went into detail about my prime concern.
When I called they said the appointment would be for 2 hours. Turns out 1.0 hour was spent in the waiting room and then .5 hour waiting for the accounting department to tell me how much the procedure would cost. Only saw doctor for a total of about 5 minutes, the rest of the time was with the tech. I have not had the procedure yet so cannot rate his skills. The office is mismanaged.
