I lived in Wilmington for around 11 yrs., its a great city although I do miss the country way of life!
Love this city.
That was not a feasible move economically to award a $600k contract to a company in Alabama for tree and debris removal if I am correct - due tothe storm. We have 100,000 people unemployed in the State of North Carolina without benefits. The City of Wilmington I am quite sure has enough contractors in the city and/or state that could have hired locals to perform those jobs.
