I leave here at Dekalb. It's very peaceful and the neighborhood is very nice. Love the Cornfield and all the fest they have during the year... I recommend this City as a good place to leave or visite.
If I could get anywhere near what I paid for our home in 2005, I would be gone.
Very High Property taxes (Avg Home will pay $6200 annually), poor government representation, Unresponsive City Government. High sales tax (8%) . 10% restaurant tax, high water bills, Citizen's are forced to pay to fund pensions on Department Head salaries that exceed $150,000.00. Very Top heavy City Depts.
How ironic : Dekalb is flooding and my water bill was triple what it ever was! Mary Lawrence Does Water Dept have something to do with flood control;?
