I read so many wonderful reviews so i was hoping he would be the answer to our prayers for my husband pain of over a month. Instead our experience was terrible. First our appointment was at 2:15. Dr did not see us until 3:20 waited over an hr. Once he came in the room, He seemed so bothered we were there it made us feel so uncomfortable. He was in the room for no longer than 15 min. Two years ago, our son was in a devastating e-bike accident that caused a severe open wound to his tibia and fibula. The ambulance rushed him to Scripps La Jolla, and by sheer luck, Dr. Christopher Urband was the trauma surgeon on call that day. Update 2025: Best Ortho Doctor in this area. He saved my rotar cuff from a shoulder replacement and worked me in at the end of his workday for a knee injury. 5 stars all the way. Earlier: Easy to get an appointment. When you have an injured joint, time is of the essence in seeing an orthopedic doctor. At Scripps the wait was 2 months.
Dr. Urband is a wonderful surgeon and doctor. We are so grateful he was on call the night my son broke his femur and needed immediate surgery. His bedside manner is exceptional, he listens intently and patiently, and he gives excellent care. His office staff is wonderful too. Our accident prone family has been to him many times since for more broken bones, torn muscles and ankle surgery - and he never fails to be optimistic, focused, and thorough. We drove past many other doctors and hospitals to go see him - he is worth it.
I wish more surgeons were like Dr. Urband. You feel absolute peace and trust every step of the way, wouldn't want any other surgeon for yourself or your family.
