I was fortunate enough to receive some good advice from a high school teacher, and it reinforces my decision to become a surgeon. My teacher told me "Find a career your love because you will be doing it for a long time." My job comes with a lot of responsibility and stress, but I truly enjoy what I do and am thankful for the opportunity every day. I did not select Dr. Willkomm. I entered the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Willkomm was the surgeon on call. All was well the day of surgery and then I developed stomach issues and ended up staying in the hospital for five painful days. I have no way of knowing if this was normal or not. I do know that I would never willing go to Venice Memorial Hospital ever again. The care given was well below acceptable!
Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and ready to help , in my situation. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing this type surgery . Thanks to Dr. Barber for her recommendation. Everything went very well and I feel great. The only thing that has suffered is my golf game , it's off.
Had to have emergency surgery and he was excellent. I was home in 2 days no pain at all. Highly recommended him as a doctor.
