I recently selected Dr. Willkomm to remove my gallbladder. At age 70+ this was my first surgery ever. I researched his background … medical school, years in practice, ratings on websites and discussed his approach to treatment with some previous patients that I know. He was extremely competent, easy to talk with, knowledgeable and pleasant…all without any "superior attitude". He explained the surgery in simple terms, the expected outcome and any possible side effects or recovery issues.
I am 72 and never had surgery in my life. I entered into this experience with some fear and apprehension. However, instantly upon meeting Dr. Willkomm I felt that he was treating me with the same care and expertise as if I was his father. I felt in good competent hands. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of his skilled profession.

From initial consultation through post-surgery follow up, Dr. Willkomm carefully explained what would be done and what was going on. His manner and straight forward answers were very comforting. I could not have asked for a more capable and caring surgeon.

When first meeting Dr. Willkomm you notice he is very young but after moment of speaking with him, he puts you at ease and you see how knowledgeable he is and compassionate about his profession. He took the time to explain the procedure and thoroughly go over everything that was on my mind. It made me feel that I will be in great hands and am comfortable to know he will be doing the procedure.
Extensive pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical followup. Consulted with other professionals during evaluation. Provided a caring and listening presence. Fully explained diagnosis and treatment in understandable terms. Involved patient in the decision-making process. Immediately responded to patient concerns during hospitalization. Provided excellent follow-up care. Extremely satisfied!

Dr. Willkomm was through in discussing my surgery, relieving my fears and was with me in every part of my stay at the hospital. He was a phone call away and always answered my questions honestly.
We feel that Dr. Willkomm saved my husband 's life when he saw him in the emergency room last February. Michael had a ruptured spleen and was on Xarelto which presents a problem when a patient needs immediate surgery. Dr Willkomm quickly called in a specialty team and they were able to place a coil in the spleen. When Michael needed a surgery this month for a large hernia we were confident in our choice of a surgeon Dr. Willkomm. We feel the level of care at Surgical Associates is top notch.
