About this business
The original version of this restaurant opened in the old Shamrock Hotel, which was a landmark to most Houstonians. Years later, it is in a different location but still serves up hot fried fish and seafood daily. This is an old school restaurant with many faithful customers. Fried seafood and steaks make up the bulk of the menu. It is not exactly health conscious eating, but most loyal patrons would not want them to change a thing. After you have had a bite or two you will probably agree.

After reading all of these rave reviews, we decied to try it while we were in town It was okay - just okay. For the flavor, I thought it was over priced. I don't mind paying $$$ for a great meal, but not an okay one. The shrimp was large, but the breading was dough-y on the inside. We had to scrape it off. Great Lunch for not Much! – I had a fantastic lunch at Christie's yesterday and had to write about it...especially since I'm going back again today! I really didn't know what I was craving for lunch, but I knew Christie's menu would have something great. I ordered the Blackened Salmon Greek Salad...YUM!! Satisfied my Fish Hunger! – We thoroughly enjoyed our recent venture to Christies after doing some Christmas shopping at the Galleria. I had the old fashioned seafood sampler, while my fiancee had the chargrilled fish fillet with baked potato. The worst restaurants I've been to!! – Just left from having dinner there and will NEVER go back. Was expecting a great dinig experiance and left very disappointed. Where do I begin? The atmosphere was a big zero. The place was dark and old. I felt like I was in a retirement home cafeteria. Nice place – We went here the other night and started with drinks which came out promptly and were good at a reasonable price ($5.75). We ordered the oysters rockefeller for appetizer and they were some of best we've ever had. They were prepared in large shells and most had at least two oysters in each. Is that all you got? – Yes, we read the reviews, thats why we went. The first clue came when we walked in Friday at lunch, only 6 people in the place. We really wanted it to be good so we just thought we beat the rush. The service was great because of the bordom. The cornbread was dry, the slaw good. I had the seafood pratter. Gotta Love it – I was visiting a friend of mine in Houston, and she suggested Christie's. The server suggested the Gumbo, which so GOOOD!! And the best was their FRIED SHRIMP!! Great seafood – Have eaten at Christies many time over the years when visiting Houston and used to eat there with my father. Food is excellent and always consistent. The fried shrimp are fabulous. Service is generally good. Now that we live in Houston we eat there regularly. Great local restaurant with good fresh food.
