Dr. Mc Cortney took the time to get my MRI from Valley Imaging ( after they told me they had sent my file to AFOC). He showed me where in the Lumbar section of my spine stenosis is present. He did not push me to have surgery rather he recommended I move forward with the RFA on the 27th and see if that helps. I set up a follow up consult with him for the 6th of August.
This is something I should have done a long time ago but that is the thing about surgeries. You get them and then you do not see the surgeon once things are done -- usually. But I was reminded to do this after clearing out my emails. Dr. McCartney was an amazing person to have on my care team. I had never had surgery before, and even when I changed my mind and said lets do the surgery, he made sure I was fully informed of my choices and I did not feel forced to choose the surgery. Listened and explained carefully and thoroughly all my options. Reviewed my charts, educated me on my spine issues well beyond my first surgeon's interview. Couldn't have had a better expert for a second opinion. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. McCartney and staff at AFOC.
Absolutely ridiculous visit. Love the professionalism (bed side manner). But the fact that I showed up and none of my images were requested even though I spent 20 minutes on the phone when my appointment was scheduled informing the scheduler to notate that Ive had imaging done. An MRi, a CT, 2 Xrays prior. But of course, let’s get another X-ray, and instead of waiting for the images and other studies. I was suggested PT and the ever so popular “magic” steroid shot.
