Ive been seeing Nancy since I was 14 and she's in charge of my meds. I genuinely feel like she listens to my concerns and takes my questions and worries seriously. I've also been doing therapy there since I was 15 and have had the chance to meet someone I click with who genuinely seems to understand how I feel. Seeing all these bad reviews is hard because I haven't had any bad experiences myself but maybe I just got lucky with who I'm seeing. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE!! This place is horrible. I brought my child here to be seen. They saw a NP. This NP wanted to put my child in a mental hospital. When I declined this suggestion she threatened me with calling the police and DFCS. She also called security and a bunch of other staff to surround me and my child. By chance I met another parent who had been at this clinic as well and had almost the exact same experience. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Get ready for a case study in bureaucratic frustration. Everything is as smooth and comfortable as pulling teeth; and everyone blames another department for an opaque and Byzantine process. It's a marvel of inefficiency and fiscal irresponsiblity.

Dr.Balik is my child’s psychiatrist and he always listens to my opinions and feelings on types of medications. He is very supportive and even called us personally the last day before his paternity leave about a concern I had! So rare! He’s great.. Also, my daughter sees Kelly Kennemer LCSW for therapy to help her manage living with chronic pain. We are very impresssed with her as well. Both are open to televisits if it’s a far drive for you. There is a wait for therapy, go ahead and get on the list asap.

I had the misfortune of being referred to CHOA, but I finally feel okay enough to leave a complete review. CHOA’s mental health services were one of the worst experiences of my life. From the start, I felt ignored and dismissed. The front desk staff is clueless, the nurses couldn’t care less, and the doctors only know how to handle the easiest, mildest cases. If you don’t respond to their basic meds, they’ll just push you toward inpatient hospitalization instead of actually trying to figure out what you need. And if you’re i... read more
