Wish I could do a big fat ZERO for the food on this one. Went there with a group and 3 ordered chimi’s they were burnt on top raw on the bottom, forgot the onions, included the chili we asked they leave off, sent them back without eating them, another ordered bacon chicken sandwich, it was rubber, bacon was burnt again was not eaten, another ordered a soft shell chicken taco received a hard shell beef taco, 2 kids ordered sandwiches/burgers and didn’t eat them, another got the German potato salad and it was inedible. shredded beef chimi was absolutely awful. The top layer of cheese was burnt which I would have lived with but the bottom was doughy. The people working stated that's how we make our chimmi's. This is ridiculous. No one should eat raw dough! We were not a happy group with our food. On the bright side the bartender was nice
Unusually busy on this visit, surprising staff as well as regular patrons, but patience paid off with great food and beverages.
After years of hearing about how good the food was here, we tried it out. When we walked in it was like we were the new cows in the barn. No one asked if we wanted to be seated, we had to ask someone. We ordered beef chimichangas, the ground beef was not seasoned. The chimichangas were burned. There was no cheese in or on them. The beans and rice were bad and the plate looked like a pile of garbage. We will only go to authentic Mexican restaurants in the Wausau area which beat out Chico’s on any of their bad days. Had dinner there last Saturday and we both said it wasn’t good. It tasted like our chicken chimichangas were made ahead and then microwaved-not at all as we remembered them.
Had dinner tonight at Chico’s and ordered their special - Mexican Skillet Stir Fry. Absolutely wonderful. Be sure to try it if they have it when you are there. Wish it was a regular menu item. As usual food was great, staff was friendly and the overall experience was great.
