"If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont," I had to put that because so much legendary stuff has happened here. If you want to be a part of that, then stay here, even if it's just for a night. You'll feel like it's the Playboy Mansion, because EVERYTHING is 24 hours a day, not just room service. Cool Place to stay or play. The Chateau Marmont is one of the classiest, hippest places in LA. It is the polar opposite of the Mondrian, with all of it's wannabe actor bellhops and their lame all-white rooms. The staff at the Chateau is very gracious. The lounge with the piano is fantastic. There are almost always some interesting people there- lots of low-key celebs. If you can- get a suite on one of the upper floors- great views of LA, and fantastic porches/ verandas. Great Party Hotel and Spirit – Fun place to have a party and you cannot argue with the history...
Not worth it unless they seat you outside – It was a beautiful evening so we decided to eat in at the Chatueau Marmont's garden restaurant; however, when we got there they sat us in an inside room by ourselves ...insisting there was no room in the garden. But as we sat there we saw them seating lots of folks. And yes, I know they hold tables for folks staying at the hotel but the folks we saw were not. Anyway, what was really disappointing was the food and service...very poor.
Typical Hollywood restaurant with overpriced cusine, poor service and a fake facade – This review is not for the hotel, but for the restaurant within the Chateau Marmont. We were a party of 5 seated promptly. The atmospehere in the Chateau Marmont is whimsical and sophistcated which I hoped would bring a great experience, but at the end of the meal I was greatly dissapointed. best brunch spot – I never would have thought about coming here to eat, but I had some friends in from out of town who wanted to do something very "L.A." Admittedly, I was expecting a bit of a scene with people talking at volume 10 about the next script they were working on, but there was none of that. Excellent – This really is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. You get the best people watching on the patio, its serene, and the food is never a let down.
Not the most consistent place to go really.... – Just returned from a week in LA and I have to say this past visit to CM was kinda lame. We had mediocre service and the salmon sandwich was so raw I couldn't even bite into it. Oh, and my friend ordered a $24 mimosa. Ouch. It is a beautiful outdoor space though and we may try it again.
My fave spot for brunch, lunch & celeb-spotting – Not sure why the other reviewer had such a negative experience, but I have been coming to the Chateau for years and have never had a bad time. Admittedly, I have only come for brunch or lunch, so maybe it's different at dinnertime.
