Rush Hour – I have always loved the food at Cedars, but it is not the place to go if you want a leisurely meal. My boyfriend and I went there for a nice dinner on a Monday night and we were rushed out of there. They literally started breaking down tables (taking them apart and moving them out of the room) while there were still diners in the restaurant. As plates got emptier, there were waiters trying to take them away. They always asked first, but the constant interuption was annoying. We weren't the only diners in the rest... read more
Always hits the spot – Cedar's has been a family favorite for years now. When we're wondering where to eat and have become indecisive, we can all count on the fact that we will be satisfied by eating at Cedar's. These days it tends to be very packed, and should probably be avoided around the dinner hour. No worries though--you can still get many of your favorites on the lunch hour, and at a slightly discounted price! They have added a spice shop which I think is nice, but you will most likely be told to wait in there if the ... read more
Best Indian food – You may have to wait for a table but the food is well worth it! All the hot or iced chai you can drink, amazing dishes, great service!
Extremely nice staff, horrible food in over-cramped setting – We made reservations for 7 p.m., didn't get seated until 7:30. Hey, it was Friday night, sometimes these things happen. However, when we were seated, they brought our party of three to a tiny two-person table (as they did with two other parties of three while we were there). I'm a relatively small girl and I was smashed into the table so uncomfortably. The service was extremely nice, and the waitstaff did what they could to place all of our food on the table, but ... read more
Good Indian. Bad Service? – I love Cedars. When I was at UW, i would go there religiously. There are always two main arguments about this place. Food vs. Service. I would have to say that 99% of my friends LOVE this place. The spices are terrific, almost every dish is a can't miss. I've tried to many other Indian restaurants in the area, but none really compare to Cedar's (and Taste of India). Their naan is the fluffiest and the chai is the tastiest. Banjara is pretty good on Queen Anne though. So on to the service, I don't ... read more
Great Food, Horrible Owner – We have been there 3 times and will never go again. My wife does not like any sweetness to her entrees so she ordered an item the waitress assured her wasn't. Well you guessed it, it was. The waitress was very apologetic and offered to give us another dish, which I would expect. Soon thereafter the owner came over with the dish in his hand screaming that the food was custom made and he couldn't take it back that we ordered it and we sould eat it. Deffinately loud enough to have half the place sta... read more
I missed Cedars! – I am shocked about the coachroaches mentioned in the previous review...I really hope it's not true. Anyway...when I was in school, I used to go to cedars all the time. They have the best chai!!!!!!!!! I have been to countless other Indian restaurants and none compare to Cedar's chai. I have been living in another state and it's just not the same:(. In addition to their chai, I really like their food, especially their coconut curry and their garlic naan. Their service was pretty good/borderline scary becaus... read more
Misunderstood – I was employed at Cedars and I found the above review stupid. The manager was demanding, but which boss isn't. We were always told to put customers first and that was our priority. The food is good and different. I don't remember seeing any insects running around, but with any place with food that is possible. We were not given tips, but we were paid well. With over 3 people serving each table, if we split tips we would only end up with $1 - $1.50 per table. No, thanks I like to be guaranteed a certain amount... read more
Mediocre food at a premium price – If you like AVERAGE food, you'll LOVE this place. Just expect to pay a price. I tried this restaurant upon many recommendations. First, the place was massively overcrowded. Probably, comes from being in the Zoo-dis--err U-district. I grew up eating lots of indian food that my dad used to make as well as many local Boston restaurants. On the east coast, I think there's probably a higher percentage of south east asians. Presumably more competition, better food on average. Cedars was definitel... read more
