Good Food – This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Seattle area so far. The food has always been good, but it is always VERY crowded and parking is sometimes hard to find. It's also annoying that someone always comes by to clean the table right after you finish your food and wipes it down with a sponge while you're still sitting there at the table. I understand it helps turn tables over more quickly and clears the table if you want to order dessert, but I've always found it very rude. Other than that, I would r... read more
Rude host – I have been to Cedars several times and enjoyed the meals. My complaint is on the rudeness of the host. I was there for dinner with a very pregnant friend of mine (nine months to be exact and she gave birth the next day). We had finished our dinner and was giving ourselves time to breath when the host kept coming up to our table to ask if we needed anything. At first, I thought he was being considerate but I soon realized by the tone of his voice he just wanted us to leave. I realize they were busy and probably n... read more
Authentic Indian fare served to University District locals and students coming in search of steaming-hot chai and heart-warming curries. – In Short The split menu (Mediterranean/Indian) has the tastiest options from both worlds, offered up in a softly lit dinning room. Falafel is spiced with enough fervor to make anyone welcome the cooling power of the yogurt-based tzatziki sauce they're smothered in, while the curries and vindaloos have more body than an entire line of Vegas show girls. Despite delivering pragmatically fast... read more
Will not go back – I have gone to Cedars two times and do not plan on returning. The first time, I saw the waitstaff making fun of me in the next room over. If you are going to make fun of your patrons, at least do it where they can't see you. The second time (more recently...the rest of the group wanted to go) we were promptly seated but had to be moved when the roof started leaking on our table! They moved us to a much smaller table where we didn't even have enough room for all of our plates. When the bill came there was n... read more
Heavenly food + express service(once seated) – Without a question, Cedars is the restaurant serving the best Indian food in the Seattle area. And, the food comes with the kind of efficient service that rivals the best in business and is light years ahead of any other Indian restaurant in this area. We have had three experiences with Cedars - everyone of them delightful - , once for lunch, once for dinner and once for catering for our son's birthday party. If you ate there and thought that the varoety and range of items is im... read more
He seats larger tables ahead of 2 and 3 person parties no matter if you've been waiting an hour longer – The food is great and the wait stuff really hussles, but the owner will not seat a 2 or 3 person party no matter how long you've been waiting if larger parties come in after you. He puts 2 small tables together to make a 4 top, so why he seats a 4 top ahead of 2 two tops is inexcusable. We've never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant, waiting an hour and 20 minutes when our wait should have only been a 1/2 hour... read more
Find another Indian restaurant - owner is horrible – Okay, so the food is good, but because of the owner, I will never go back to this restaurant. He is the rudest individual I've met in the restaurant industry (I was a waitress). There was a mistake in my order and the waitress quickly acknowledged it and attempted to remedy it. She was great. But then the owner came running over and started yelling at me that I have to keep this wrong dish because he didn't want to take it back. We then argued for a bit to the point where ... read more
DO NOT TIP AT CEDAR'S - THE OWNER TAKES ALL THE TIP – The food there is pretty good, however, the restaurant (or house) is overly cramped. The hosts look really irritated by the amount of people waiting to get seated. Also LUNCH ENDS AT 2:30 p.m. so make sure you note that when you get there. I got there at 2:15 and left around 3:00 and got charged for dinner price (which went from $7.95 per dish to $11.95 for the same dish, same portions). Also, NEVER TIP at Cedar's because the owner takes all the tip. The waiters typically... read more
Terrible!!! – Food was bland and gave me a stomach ache. When I received the check it also gave me a pain in my pocketbook! We went to lunch on Saturday and they charged us for the dinner menu price. Completely disappointed. They told us that the dinner started at 2:30. However, I called at a later time and they told me that dinner starts at 3pm. They took advantage of us and were dishonest because there wasn't anything on their menu (or in their waiting area) that indicated lunch/dinner service time.
