Given the mixed reviews, I remained optimistic and booked an appointment. The admin staff are friendly, however the actual interaction with he psychologist was awkward, condescending and unhelpful. I was told again and again ‘ that must been hard.’ No actual assistance or helpful tips to advise. I research a lot before I ask for help, and I could have saved $145 and told myself 'that must be hard'.

The most unhelpful and not supportive therapist place ive ever been. Thanks for telling me again and again ‘ that must been hard.’ With nothing else.

If you haven't found a psychologist who connects with you, give CBT Professionals a go. The staff on the desk are warm, understanding and friendly. There might be a wait to get an appointment, or you might need to try more than one psychologist at the clinic. But it's worth the wait, for kids and adults who are looking for support. I attended several sessions with a psychologist and found the counselling to be at best unhelpful and generic and at worst dismissive and somewhat condescending. That is subjective though and could be very different for others. The reason for my negative review is the focus on marketing and pushy salesmanship. They took the liberty of booking several unrequested sessions themselves presumably because there was still Medicare rebate eligible sessions available for that year. I highly recommend Phillipa. She is kind, empathetic and compassionate. I’ve found her support for myself as an anxious mum to be very effective.
