The Cave of the Mounds is one of the most significant caves in the Midwest of the United States. The cave was believed to have formed nearly a million years ago, while the limestone encrustations around it are said to date back over 488 million years to the Ordovician Period. Beautiful grounds and nice tour...the staff was friendly as well...
It was just as I remembered as kid! My family and I had a great time and our young tour guide Quintin was so knowledgeable and made the experience so fun! The Cave is something to see, its natural beauty is truly amazing!
We were there on a time that they did the guided tour with flashlights& the kids got a free bag of mining stuff. We had a good time but our tour guide young lady just didn't seem to enthused on the tour. Polite but to quite. Well they do want to come again another time because they said it was cool. Our friends that came also said hopefully it will be more fun next time. But we had fun.
It was a really cool experience. I have been to other caverns like carlsbad and several in west texas panhandle but I really enjoyed the tour. I think more exploring could be done there has tp be other caverns in the area.
We learned a lot!! It was worth the trip!! We came from Florida so it was cooler than we expected but enjoyed the entire tour!!
Little pricey but the experience was great, glad we took the tour but with a 6 person family can get expensive.
