dim sum – I have always eaten at Cathay House, every since I was six years old, and now I am twenty. I bring a lot of my friends and family here. The service was never great, but my latest visit was ridiculous. It took forever just to get our water and tea. My boyfriend asked for a Coke and did not receive it until 20 minutes later. After we were finished eating, we had to wait for the bill for at least half an hour. We had to ask for our to-go box three times! My bill said it was sixteen dollars and some change, but for som... read more

Be careful and check your bill at Cathay house – The dim sum is good here but be careful when you get the bill. My friends went there for dim sum and when they got the bill, someone at the restaurant added several stamps to make the bill higher. When my friend confronted them, they took off the items. Then, we were there and they overcharged us for two large dim sum items that we did not order. We told them and they apologized for the mistake. Seems like too much of a coincidence. Just be careful and count your dishes and ma... read more

A popular spot since 1988, thanks to Vegas views and dim sum. – In Short The Cathay House makes a grand first impression with a stunning city view, dressy waiters and linen tablecloths. The extensive menu carries classic Chinese-restaurant fare, from egg rolls and fried dumplings to Mongolian beef and kung pao chicken. Noteworthy dishes are the curry puffs (wontons filled with curried cream cheese) and the strawberry chicken (chicken breasts lightly batter-fried and topped with strawberry sauce).

When I walked into the Cathay House for lunch, the place was crowded and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, waiters/waitresses, busboys, and ALL the customers, were speaking in Chinese! I knew right then that if you wanted good, authentic Chinese food, this was the place to go! I was not disappointed. I partook of eight different dim sums (and felt STUFFED), and each one proved to be delicious in all their different flavors. Im sure that the other 40+ dim sums I looked at (but wisely declined) were just as delicious! I intend to... read more

Dissappointing to us – I rarely dissagee with the editorial descriptions but this one was so far off I can hardly believe that this is the same place they described. WHAT great view?? What ambiance?? What elegant servers?? My husband and I are affectionados of Dim Sum and have eaten in many such restaurants. The fillings in the dumplings we ate were not tender nor ample. I realize that this is acceptable to residents of China (we have toured several cities in China) but not to American palates. And the choices were far too l... read more

Good Dim Sum – We tried this place last week - the first dim sum place we have tried in Las Vegas. Based upon our lack of (Las Vegas) dimsum restaurants, we'd have to say this place is pretty good. The flavors are authentic, and the variety is substantial. The food and service were good here and we would suggest readers give it a try, IF DIM SUM is what you are looking for. For made to order Chinese food, there may be better places here in Las Vegas, based upon your taste and preference.
