The Cat Hospital of Tidewater was founded in 1989 by Cynthia Bocian DVM, the first Cats Only animal hospital in the Tidewater area. It was first located in the Dixie Square Shopping Center. In 1995 the Cat Hospital moved to its current location, at the corner of Virginia Beach Blvd. and Poplar Hall Drive. We are just down the street from Military Circle Mall and Janaf Shopping Center. We have a hard-working staff that assists the veterinarian-in-charge, Dr. Cynthia Bocian, along with several house cats that make the Cat Hosp... read more

Best in Tidewater, VA Dr. Bocian is the greatest cat care vet that I have taken my cats to see. She and her staff are caring, competent, and professional people. I have taken indoor/outdoor, healthy, disabled, and rescued cats to the Cat Hospital and never been disappointed with the care and/or referrals given to me. Facility has never had offensive smell or been "covered in cat hair" as other review stated on any of the numerous times I have been there over the years. I was thrilled to find this place after many "all animal... read more
The Exemplary Dr. Bocian I dont know why these very few people have had bad experiences with the Cat Hospital of Tidewater, but this is where I chose to bring my 3 precious little ones, instead of to a multi-species vet clinic where they might be traumatized from all the barking & canine odors & activity. Dr. Bocian is a very thorough & caring vet with the kitties, knows everything about them beyond what most ordinary vets understand that has to do with the feline nature & ways, & she takes no risky chances with their sensit... read more
My cat had an undiagnosed tumor because of this vet!!! Okay so a year ago I take my cats in to be seen at the Cat Hospital of Tidewater thinking great they specialize in cats. One cat had a pale fleshy bump on his nose and was the primary reason for the visit. She takes 5 second to look at it and says it's fine and normal to keep an eye on it and only return if it changes color. Well it hasn't changed one bit and mind you that this visit cost nearly $400 dollars because I had their ears cleaned and got vaccinations. Fast for... read more
Would not recommend I originally visited this clinic for my aging cat because I incorrectly assumed that the vet was a board-certified feline specialist, having been fortunate to have such expertise when living in another state. During the first visit, I was appalled at the facility, the lack of professionalism of the staff, and the bedside manner of the veterinarian. The facility was unclean with cat hair and an overwhelming smell of cat urine throughout. My long wait did not bother me but the lack of friendliness and commu... read more
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAT HERE! The Cat Hospital of Tidewater may have the appearance of a loving, nuturing, caring facility for cuddly cats, but BEWARE: this clinic is nothing more than a money scamming litter box. Upon entering, you are eerily greeted with the smell of cat urine - it hits you immediately. Then there is the 1970's decor, including the fading ceiling tiles covered in moisture stains. After a long wait, (of course you made an appointment - but that doesn't matter) - you will be whisked away into a small unventilat... read more
Excellent recommendation for Dr Bocian I have been a customer of Dr Bocian for 23 yrs. I have read some of the neg reviews. I can tell you that Dr. Bocian is right on the money. Any human Md would give you several scenerios on certain conditions. You don't have to follow her advice and she has always given me choices depending on the money situation since I am no longer working as a registered nurse, it is much tighter.Years ago I had a cat that started sleeping up over the arm of my chair and not on the seat. I took him in a... read more
Cat Hospital Of Tidewater is top notch! AAA+++ I've been a client of the Cat Hospital of Tidewater since Dr. Bocian opened her practice. She and her excellent, caring staff have always provided the very best of care to my cats, from annual physicals, to vaccinations, to treating sniffles, allergies, or whatever sort of ailment. Drs. Bocial and Nelson have been there for us through it all ... and they care ... it's never easy to "put a cat down" for a terminal illness, but the NICE people there are understanding and they trul... read more
A++! This place has such a welcoming atmosphere, that I felt at ease as soon as I walked in. The veterinarian did seem a bit harried, but she took every measure to make sure that my kitties were well taken care of. She listened to my concerns patiently and addressed every one of them.
Excellent care of your cat This is best cat hospital I've ever experienced and I have had cats all my long life. There are no dogs treated here and many cats live there and are also blood donors. If it smells like cats it's because it's full of CATS! If the staff or doctor seem harried or rushed, it's because they have a full schedule of cats who need attention. There's lots going on in the back rooms you can't see and anytime there's a cat in serious distress, tensions are high. I would recommend this facility to anyone who... read more
