Restaurant Good place with great atmosphere and wonderful service, but I feel there are better steak houses in the Saint Louis area. Good place if you want to stay down by the river and not walk up town.

Great Place I have been to Carmines only once, but it was a good experience. I do prefer Tony Lombardo's other restaurant Lombarods Trattoria also located downtown, but this place has wonderful decor to look at, hand painted on the walls. You should really give it a try and see for yourself. The food is great and atmospere is too! Have Fun!

Made reservations despite the poor reviews, however was a little learly about eating here. My fiance and I are adamante about our steak houses and while staying downtown at the Hilton decided to give this a try. Weve tried alot of different steak houses around the STL area howvered never Carmines. Once arrived the ambiance was very good. We ate at 5:30 so it was still light outside. The dinnser salad was good.Industry standard. We both had the Fillet Mignion which was FANTASTIC, and both the sides were also fantastic. Well c... read more

What's a nice word for TERRIBLE?? – We spent over $200 for some O.K. steaks and twice baked potatoes that were bought from COSTCO. Waiter bashed Ruth's Chris and I wish we had spent our evening there....Twice baked's were hard as a rock and obviously bought from a wholesaler...when I complained...the waiter said.."Well, I guess they have been sitting back there for a while"...Should've ran when our waiter was outside trying to gather business and when I walked in...the place was empty.....Very upset we spent this much money ... read more

Huge disappointment and huge waste of money – Hard to tell if the steaks are of good quality or not, because they were terribly overcooked. Medium-rare gets you medium-well. Very dry and tasteless. Same with the pork chops -- tough and dry. Also, the twice-baked-potatoes were clearly NOT freshly made. They were heated up from frozen and tasted gritty, like the kind you buy pre-made from Sam's Club. A huge, huge disappointment. This is clearly a hotel restaurant and nothing more. Don't be fooled.

Satrurday night downtown – The service was the best part. Had a very veteran waiter who knew when to play it tight and knew when to play it loose. Went there with a group of friends and acquaintances. The man who invited us was very wealthy and fairly tight with owner. Had read reviews and thought this was a very expensive place. Not true. Sure the better steaks were up around 55 bucks, but they were huge. A 10 oz filet was only 35. That's abut right for a good filet. On to the dinner itself. I had the filet gorgonzola. The ... read more

Poor choice for large party – I brought my staff to St. Louis for a weekend getaway and found Carmine's on this website. I spent over $1200 on dinner at this restaurant only to regret making the reservation. My assistant made the reservation and when I called to verify once we were in St. Louis they said they didn't have us on the list. I should have seen this as a sign and asked the concierge to for a different restaurant. Once there we had a few trays of appetizers, scallops (smelt like ammonia), frog legs (they were fried... read more
