I lived at Carmel Plaza Apartments for a little over a year. I would of stayed in this complex... however, due to the owner getting greedy they decided to raise the rent over $700 from one year to the next. Apparently, since this complex was built in the 1980's they are not rent controlled. This is something you should strongly consider before moving in, they can and will raise you rent to whatever they want once your lease up. I've lived here for the last 3 years and I have no intention of moving soon. This is probably the best deal you can expect in the heart of DC. It's a short walk to all of the resturaunts on K street, there's a Walmart, Safeway, Chipotle, Sweet Green, Busboys & Poets, at least three different gyms, and an amazing wine shop all within a five minute walk.
