RecommendedMy son was transferred to this hospital from Peoria. He had to have emergency oral & throat surgery & no one in our area was available to do it. He was transferred by ambulance. I am so thankful to this hospital for stepping up & taking him! Everyone we came in contact with was amazing! We were there for 6 days & we have no complaints! From the nurses in each area, to the doctors, the cleaning people & the food servers were wonderful! Discharging someone frail and elderly in the middle of a snow storm is crazy. Caring?
Recomendations for improvement: 1) Coordinate care with the patients family physician so the medical history is properly considered. Care providers consistently assumed my father had dementia which he did not. They also caused psychiatric problems by changing medicines without knowing what was normal for him. 2) Maintain a work schedule so the number of doctors and nurses assigned to patients are not constantly changing to someone new each day. My brother Charles Shaffer had been in and out of Carle since November 2020 for heart issues. They put in a pacemaker, but that isn’t going to fix the problem since his arteries are narrowed and 100% blocked. And that took 2 times in the hospital to find that out! They have to do open heart surgery for a triple bypass, repair the valve, etc. and they keep delaying the surgery and sending him home because they state they need ICU beds open for COVID patients.
