All communication was rushed. Wierkes did refer me to a great physicsl therapist firm, which was a life saver. His PA Kevin V. was overbearing and rude, blatantly disinterested in meeting with me. Wierkes showed minimal interest in my apparently routine boring case. Even in the post op meeting 10 days later Wierkes was brusque, exhibited NO empathy. Revision labral repair surgery. Great doctor who produces amazing results. If you are an athlete who wants to get back up in running with a comprehensive team, he is your doctor.

I have had two surgeries by Dr. Wierks. He has great bed side manner and cares about his patients. One of my children also had to have hip surgery and I made sure he was their surgeon. Very professional. Staff is amazing and pain was handled well.

I had a total hip replacement by Dr. Wierks in May 2023. I didn't care for his office manner during the initial appt., but my doctor had recommended him. I hoped his surgical skills were better than his interpersonal ones. I found him to be very condescending and uninterested in me or my pain or my questions. MRI showed a diff surgeon'the worst labrum tear he'd ever seen'he sent me to Wierks since it was too bad for him to fix.At W's I gave him the MRI,my pain/symptoms,the months of pt w/no improvement&my genetic disorder made me get cartilage rips that won't heal w/o surgery,I'd already needed both labrums in my shoulders repaired.His eyes glazed over the whole time.He then told me I should work on having less anxiety&tried to leave.My dad blocked him&repeated everything I had said,verbatim.W sat down&started taking notes.By the... read more

My daughter had surgery with Dr. Wierks for hip impingement and a labral tear in March 2023. She had a very difficult and long recovery and has continued to have sharp pain and popping in her hip. When she complained of the sharp stabbing pain she was having during a post-op visit with Dr. Wierks he responded by saying, “Yeah, that happens sometimes,” and changed the subject. Dr. Wierks and Kevin do a great job! I had a labral repair and bone shave in my hip. From my first appointment to my final appointment I never felt rushed and felt very comfortable asking any questions. I felt confident Dr. Wierks knew what he was doing in the surgery. Additionally, I am a physical therapist and he has a great protocol for optimal healing.

Thank you, Dr. Wierks! The drive up to Grand Rapids was well worth it. After almost 2 years of sports medicine doctors and lots of P.T., he offered a cortisone injection for my hip pain. After 2 days, I was pain free! I don't understand the negative reviews - he was attentive, kind, and very pleasant. Thanks again!!
