*UPDATE: they sent that response below the day after Christmas, gosh, what a way to celebrate the holidays. In any case, there seems to be a pattern in her responses to people who say they're owed their deposit too - whatever "costs" she's claiming took the security deposit are non-existent. This is not a properly management company. They won’t return your calls, you can’t leave messages and you will be stuck sinks, toilets, heaters not working and they won’t respond. Please report to housing authorities for class action lawsuit. These are slum lords and I warn you not to move to any property owned by Caris unless you want to pay for everything yourself and live in unsanitary conditions.
What an absolute shame. I've yet to get my security deposit back. I've called and emailed for months now. The lease states the security deposit owed is $2,750. I was even made to be a "temporary emergency contact" for the building as our initial super moved out. That went on for several months, and while I was happy to do so as I enjoy helping others, I understand Caris had taken complete advantage of me as I have no property management background or licensing/permits in any state.
