Capt. Bill’s Waterfront Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Carteret County. The entire restaurant sits on pilings out over the beautiful waters of Bogue Sound. It began on the corner of Arendell and Ninth Streets in 1938 by Mr. Headen Ballou (later known as Capt. Bill) and was known as The Atlantic Cafe. One year later, he moved his restaurant down the street to the block between 7th and 8th Streets (still on Arendell Street) and reopened his restaurant naming it the Morehead Café.

Superior lunch, definite must visit for NC seafood. Been going here nearly 40 years & never had a bad meal. And very friendly staff, loved Kimberly's service today.
Amazing food and great southern family owned restaurant that I've grown up on! Can't wait to start work! Hope to meet you all there!!
Took forever to get service. 13 shrimp and a half plate of French fries was $16.95, this was an entree not an appetizer. They had a 90 rating I noticed when walked out the door. Mentioned the price to the manager and she just laughed didn't offer a any suggestions or apologies.
AWESOME food great service
